If we think something is a waste of money or would be better done next year, we say so. Integrity pays off in the end.
We take a great pride in ‘walking our talk’. There is nothing that we ask other people to do that we will not be striving hard to do ourselves. People will see this, and it gives them a model of the behaviour we hope they will be trying to put into practice themselves. It also increases our credibility.
We design every job around the needs of the particular group of people we are working with. For example, if we are doing a Team Development job, we design a course or a workshop package specifically for that team, rather than provide an off-the-shelf product.
We like to set up a job properly from the beginning. We listen carefully to the client’s needs, we ask questions and we often challenge some of the client’s assumptions. We reach a point where we are sure that what we are going to do will really work, and if we don’t think it will, we are open about it.
Although we will always have a plan for a job before we start, we are quite prepared to amend or abandon it to work with emerging needs, and to make sure the objectives are met. We aim not to give prescriptive advice because we want people to develop their own solutions and learning rather than being force-fed with ours - we need to be flexible with our plans to achieve this.
Our training methods create a powerful impact and engage people in a very participative way. People who have been on Wentworth training events still have vivid memories of these many years later. The programmes are intensive but people rarely get tired, because our techniques engage emotion and spirit. Most people find them very enjoyable.
Customers are often surprised when they meet us, because we don’t fit their stereotypical picture of management consultants – we’re more like human beings!
We’re open and honest and fun to work with, and we have a passion for what we do which people find infectious. The energy, zest and commitment we have can inspire people to find parts of themselves that they don’t normally reach. This allows us at times to work in areas that can be quite uncomfortable, and we are skilled at making it safe for people to look at issues which they might otherwise be reluctant to explore.
We’ve been around since 1979 and have collected a lot of experience. We’ve learned a lot from it, and now have a very high degree of expertise in our three major business areas – Individual, team and organisation development.
Where customers have used any of our competitors in the past, they invariably say we are better - because what we do has more impact and it lasts.
